What Is a TikTok Storefront and How to Set One Up

A TikTok storefront is the shop tab on your profile where buyers purchase your products without leaving TikTok. Learn who needs one and the steps to set it up.

Step by step

Set up your TikTok storefront in 5 steps

Step 1 of 5
TikTok account
Create or log in to TikTok

A TikTok storefront is the shop tab on your TikTok profile where buyers can browse your products, read reviews, and complete checkout without leaving TikTok. Once your TikTok Shop is approved and your TikTok account is linked, the storefront goes live automatically. Setting it up is part of shop onboarding.

What is a TikTok storefront exactly?

A TikTok storefront is the dedicated shop area on your public TikTok profile. It sits next to your videos tab and shows your product catalog, product reviews, and your shop information. When a buyer taps the shop tab, they see your products as a grid or list, and they can tap any product to view its details and make a purchase. The checkout happens inside TikTok, so the buyer never leaves the app.

This storefront is not a separate website or an external link. It is built into TikTok Shop, the marketplace that lets sellers list products and creators promote them. If you sell on TikTok Shop, you already have a storefront by default once your shop is live.

Do you need a website or Shopify store to have a TikTok storefront?

No, you do not need a website or a Shopify store. TikTok Shop is a native marketplace that works entirely inside TikTok. Your storefront is hosted by TikTok, and you manage your products, orders, and payouts through TikTok Shop Seller Center.

That said, many sellers also run their own website, often on Shopify, for more control over branding, email marketing, and customer data. You can sync your Shopify products to TikTok Shop using the TikTok sales channel, but that is optional. If you want to compare the two, I have a full guide on TikTok Shop vs Shopify.

How to set up your TikTok storefront

Setting up your TikTok storefront is mostly the same as setting up a TikTok Shop. The steps are:

StepActionWhere to do it
1Create or log in to your TikTok accountTikTok app or web
2Register as a TikTok Shop sellerSeller Center
3Complete shop details: shop name, category, address, bank, shippingSeller Center
4Add your first productSeller Center
5Wait for approval, then check your profileTikTok profile

For a full walkthrough of the seller registration and shop setup, read how to sell on TikTok Shop step by step for beginners. For adding products, I have an animated tutorial: how to add a product on TikTok Shop.

After your shop is approved, TikTok links your TikTok account to your shop. The storefront should appear automatically on your profile, usually within a short time. If it does not appear, check that you are using the same TikTok account you registered with. You can also go to your profile settings and look for a "Shop" or "Business" section to confirm the link.

TikTok Shop rules, fees, and setup steps change. For the current official information, check TikTok Shop Seller University. That is the source I use when I need the latest requirements.

How do buyers see your TikTok storefront?

Buyers can reach your storefront in a few ways:

  • Tapping the shop tab on your TikTok profile
  • Tapping a product link in one of your videos or a creator's video
  • Searching for your product or brand in TikTok Shop search
  • Tapping a product card that appears in the TikTok Shop feed
  • Receiving a direct link from a creator or a promotion

Once they arrive, they see your product grid, your shop name, your rating, and any promotions you are running. From there, they can open any product page and complete checkout inside TikTok.

Who needs a TikTok storefront?

Every TikTok Shop seller has a storefront. You cannot sell products on TikTok Shop without one. So if you plan to sell any physical or digital products on TikTok, you need to set up your shop first. This applies to brands, small businesses, and even individuals.

The storefront is where buyers discover your products when they visit your profile, see your videos, or find you through search. It is the central hub for your TikTok Shop presence. Even if you rely mostly on creators promoting your products, buyers will still land on your storefront to complete the purchase.

Why is my TikTok storefront not showing on my profile?

If your storefront is not visible, here are the most common reasons:

  • Your shop is still under review or was not approved.
  • Your TikTok account is not linked to your shop. Check Seller Center > Account settings > Linked accounts.
  • You are looking at a different TikTok account than the one you registered with.
  • The app needs an update or cache clear. Try logging out and back in.
  • Your region may not support TikTok Shop yet. TikTok Shop is available in select countries, so check if your country is eligible.

You can check your shop status in Seller Center. If everything looks approved but the storefront still missing, contact TikTok Shop support through Seller Center.

Can I customize my TikTok storefront?

Yes, you can customize several parts of your storefront. Here are the main elements and what you can change:

ElementWhat you can customize
Shop nameThe name buyers see at the top of your storefront
LogoA small image that represents your shop
BannerA wide image at the top of your shop page
Product categoriesHow your products are grouped
Pinned productsFeatured products you want to highlight first
Shop descriptionA short text that tells buyers what you sell

To make these changes, go to Seller Center and look for "Shop" or "Profile" settings. You can also edit your TikTok profile bio and link to your shop. Keep your shop name clear and your logo readable, because these appear on every product page and in search results.

What should you do after your storefront is live?

Once your storefront is live, the next steps are not about the storefront itself, but about the products and operations behind it.

  • Make sure your product listings are complete: clear photos, titles, descriptions, and prices.
  • Set up your shipping options and test the checkout flow.
  • Respond to buyer questions in the chat, because slow replies hurt your shop performance.
  • Monitor your product reviews and fix any recurring complaint.
  • Start thinking about creator partnerships if you want more traffic.

You can start with the basics: how to set up shipping on TikTok Shop and how to write a TikTok Shop product title buyers search for.

My honest take is that your TikTok storefront is not a separate website you build from scratch. It is the shop tab that comes with your approved TikTok Shop. The setup is mostly done during onboarding, so if you follow the seller registration steps and add products, it will appear. The real work is keeping your product catalog accurate, your reviews positive, and your profile looking professional.

To make your products look their best, you can use my free AI product photo generator to create clean listing images from a phone photo. That helps your storefront look more trustworthy before you have a lot of customer photos.

If you have a question about your own TikTok storefront, ask in the chat on this site. Tell me your situation, your shop name or status, what you have tried so far, and I will point you to the right next step. It is free.

Frequently asked questions

What is a TikTok storefront?
A TikTok storefront is the shop tab on your TikTok profile where buyers can browse your product catalog, read reviews, and complete checkout without leaving TikTok. It is part of TikTok Shop and appears automatically once your shop is approved.
Do I need a separate website to have a TikTok storefront?
No, you do not need a separate website. TikTok Shop is a native marketplace inside TikTok, so your storefront works on its own. Some sellers also use Shopify or another platform for their own website, but that is optional.
How do I set up my TikTok storefront?
To set up your TikTok storefront, register as a TikTok Shop seller, complete the shop setup steps like adding your shop name, category, shipping, and bank details, then add products. Once approved, the storefront appears automatically on your TikTok profile.
Why is my TikTok storefront not showing on my profile?
Common reasons include your shop not being approved yet, your TikTok account not linked to the shop, or a delay after approval. Check Seller Center for notifications and make sure your TikTok account is connected. Sometimes clearing the app cache or updating the app helps.
Can I customize my TikTok storefront?
Yes, you can change your shop name, logo, banner, and product categories. You can also pin featured products or create collections. Customization is done in Seller Center or through your TikTok profile settings.
What is the difference between a TikTok storefront and a Shopify store?
A TikTok storefront lives only inside the TikTok app and is part of TikTok Shop. A Shopify store is your own independent website that you control. They can exist together, but they are separate sales channels.

Proof of results

Yes, these are real. 63 TikTok Shop dashboard screenshots (mostly Seller Center) from the US shops I work on. Counted from the shops' own order exports, those shops made $1.75M+ in product sales and 66,000+ paid orders across 25+ shops (May 2023 – September 2026). Direct answers

What is orliejohn.com?
orliejohn.com is a free TikTok Shop learning hub for sellers. It has animated Seller Center tutorials, daily TikTok Shop news in plain English, how-to guides, honest X vs Y comparisons, e-commerce basics, strategy, and free calculators and checklists. I am Orlie John Deferia and I write it.
Is it free?
Yes. Every tutorial, guide, news post and tool is free, with no signup. The AI generators have a small free allowance per visitor because each one costs real money to run.
Are there ads or sponsored posts?
No. There are no ads, no sponsored posts and no affiliate links. Nobody pays to be mentioned or ranked here, so a comparison only says what I think is true. The one thing I promote is Creatorly, a Chrome extension I built myself. It is always labeled as mine and never appears inside a guide or comparison.
How do you make sure the information is true?
Fees, rates and rules change often, so I do not guess them: I link TikTok Shop's own Seller University page instead. News posts are checked against the TikTok source they link, and every number in them has to appear in that source. Any other number is counted from real order files or marked as an example. Every page shows its date, and when something is wrong I fix it and update the date.
Who writes it?
I do: Orlie John Deferia, a TikTok Shop operator and app developer in Cebu, Philippines. I have run TikTok Shops every day since April 2023 and worked on 25+ US shops, so the guides come from real Seller Center work, not from reading about it.
Is this site from TikTok?
No. It is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of TikTok. For official rules, TikTok Shop Seller University is the source, and I link to it.
How often is it updated?
News is checked every day against TikTok Shop Seller University. A new guide goes up most days. Tutorials are updated when TikTok moves a menu in Seller Center.
Can I ask my own question?
Yes. Use the chat on any page. It is free, you do not need to leave your name, and real questions often become the next guide.
